Anyone else not see September coming?! Summer has come and gone, which means we’re officially out here gearing up for fall and getting back to the PSL grind. And as we all know, leaves changing means we need a wardrobe change to go with it. We teamed up with our friends at Little Burgundy to bring you the must-have shoes for fall that happen to pair perfectly with all the awesome things happening in Calgary this month! Here are 25 things you just have to do this September.

The Proudest Party on the Block

National on 17th is going all out to be 17th Ave’s biggest and best Pride party location! Think rainbows, glittery beer, drag queens, dancing, and special events and activations all weekend! Pro tip: nothing goes with sparkle quite like Vans Checkerboard Slip-Ons in Purple.

When: Friday, August 30 – Sunday, September 1
Where: 550 17 Ave SW

Much Music Video Dance Party- Pride Edition

If you’re not down to have a Much Music Video dance party on a rooftop patio, we don’t know if we can be friends. This party is gonna have all the throwback jams you could ever ask for, with an unreal Pride twist. Grab your $5 tix here and grab your must-wear Matt & Nat Park Fanny Pack here.

When: Sunday, September 1

The Guild

Brunch at The Guild is the perfect way to finish off your Calgary Parade Day celebrations! With $5 Bloody Caesars & Mimosas, plus a special brunch menu, this iconic spot under the Hudson’s Bay arches is cooking up an amazing spread. Plus, you can look just as amazing rolling up in Floyd Emilio Chukka Boots…

When: Sunday, September 1
Where: 200 8th Ave SW

Party in the Park (Styx, Motley Crue’s Vince Neil)

It’s not every day that we rock vintage Chucks, but this is certainly the right time for it. Head to Party in the Park for a lil Mr. Roboto and just a sprinkle of Kickstart My Heart.

When: Saturday, August 31 – Sunday, September 1
Where: Winsport
Time: 2 PM

Shake, Stir and Strainbow

Multiple venues are taking part in Eat North’s Shake, Stir and Strainbow event, creating special Pride cocktails with $1 from each sold going to the Skipping Stone Foundation! Drop by all the venues to sip and keep all your most important stuff with you with this handy Matt & Nat Sam Cross Body Bag.

When: Limited edition drinks available till Monday, September 2
Where: Various venues

Carly Rae Jepsen

Call me maybe, and then take an OOTD with Vans Retro Style 36 Sneakers in Pink. It’s what Carly Rae would want.

When: Wednesday, September 4
Where: MacEwan Hall
Time: 8 PM

UCalgary Alumni Week

You may know Susanne Craig as the Pulitzer Prize winner who was anonymously mailed Donald Trump’s 1995 tax returns during the 2019 presidential election. What you may not know is that she’s a fellow Calgarian and a University of Calgary alumna and she’s coming home for a special event for UCalgary’s Alumni Weekend. While we may not be as smart as this lady, we might be able to beat her in the fashion department with some Cortez sneaks.

When: Saturday, September 5 – Sunday, September 8
Where: University of Calgary

GRETA Corporate Playground Launch

Our fave arcade bar is making some big moves! Stay tuned for the launch of GRETA’s new menu, new games, new happy hour, and new team building packages– and make sure you plan your kicks in advance with Vagabond Dioon high heeled sandals.

When: Friday, September 13
Where: 213 10 Ave SW

Stamps games

The CFL season is in full swing! Whether you’re a football fan or not, attending a Stampeders football game is a unique experience you’ll want to check out. The Gridiron Gardens are back this year as your pre-game tailgate destination at McMahon. They’re bringing us new game themes, and best of all, new stadium food. The least you can do is rock some red sneaks to show your YYC pride.

When: Monday, September 2 & Saturday, September 14
Where: McMahon Stadium

Sunflower Festival

Sunflowers are love, sunflowers are life. Every influencer needs a pic, so rock your heeled Chelsea boots and enjoy the beautiful blooms at Cobb’s Corn Maze while you hang with baby kangaroos and sample from beer and wine tastings! Is there anything better? Nope, pretty sure there’s not.

When: Sunday, September 1 & Monday, September 2 from 11am–5pm
Where: Cobb’s Corn Maze– 84 Street NE

CCMA Awards

Iconic mullet man Billy Ray Cyrus was just announced as co-host for the CCMA Awards, which are going down at none other than the Scotiabank Saddledome. We’re hoping he rocks an Old Town Road-inspired look with fellow host Dallas Smith (we’re gonna stick to our Emily Boots) but either way we’re sure it’s gonna be a crazy show.

When: Sunday, September 8
Where: Scotiabank Saddledome

Circle Carnival

The travelling food, beer and music carnival returns! Get in on the action and celebrate the best of what Calgary offers. From local vendors to craft beer to live music, these festivals vibes have us hooked! But you gotta stay hydrated– so keep all your essentials in this fancy Hip Pack.

When: Friday, September 13 – Saturday, September 14
Where: Shaw Millennium Park

Stephen Ave Live

So we know, we just told you about everything you’ve gotta do on Stephen Ave… but we ain’t done yet! The Calgary Downtown Association is bringing live street performances to Calgarians through their new Stephen Avenue Live program, and we’re pretty jazzed about it and the fact that we have a reason to cop our brand new Matt & Nat kicks.

When: Weekdays from 11:00am–1:45pm and 3:00pm–5:30pm until September 20
Where: Stephen Ave

Sidewalk Citizen’s new resto

Woah, woah, woah. You’re telling us that Sidewalk Citizen, creator of the legendary Roast Beef & Cheddar Melt, is giving us another resto to obsess over? Woah nelly, take all our money. You’ll be able to find it in our snazzy Herschel Roy wallet.

Where: 340 13 Ave SW, Central Memorial Park
When: Opens mid-September

Gilmore’s Mini Golf Bar Pop Up

Expect 9-holes inspired by a variety of pop culture icons at this wicked pop up. So far, we’ve only caught wind of the Simpsons and Pac-Man, but we’re sure each hole will be impressive. Will our look be as good as our golf game? Oh you know it, especially if we roll up in our Adidas Stan Smith sneaks.

When: Friday, September 6 – Sunday, September 8
Where: TBA

Cirque du Soleil’s Luzia

You can expect some high-flying trapeze acts and contortionists turning themselves (artfully) into human pretzels. There are also street-dancers, mind-blowing acrobatics, and more to keep you thoroughly entertained all night long. Apparently, there is also some heavy water integration into the Luzia show, so we’re very interested in seeing that! Just try to keep the spray off the Floyd Danile Chukka Boots, gotta keep those babies fresh.

When: Shows ongoing till Sunday, September 22
Where: The white-and-gold Big Top at Stampede Park

Studio Ghibli Fest

We are seriously excited to have found out that all of our favourite Studio Ghibli films will be playing at Cineplex Theatres. You’ll be able to catch approximately one film per month up until December, so drop by this month to catch The Secret World of Arrietty– and don’t forget to wear something comfy for movie-watching (Fila Ray Repeat sneakers are our pick).

When: Sunday, September 29 & Monday, September 30
Where: Cineplex Theatres across Canada

Secret Cinema

Due to copyright reasons, the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF) can’t tell you what movie’s playing. Hence the “secret” thing. But we’re pretty sure it’s cool, which is perfect for someone cool enough to wear Dr. Martens Talib Boots. Beer from Village & popcorn will be available for sale, so don’t miss it!

When: Thursday, September 12
Where: #100, 1725 10 Avenue SW

Dine Under The Stars

Enjoy the night sky (Big Dipper, what up?) and the beauty of Fish Creek Park while you’re served an elegant 4 course meal, wine and/or champagne! The weather protective Garden Domes comfortably sit 4-6 guests, so get that group chat going and those strappy black heels prepped ‘n’ ready.

When: Friday, September 27
Where: Fish Creek Provincial Park

Pride in the Park

Pride in the Park is Calgary Pride’s post-parade celebration! This is a serious be there or be square moment– so show up and make sure you do it in an appropriate look (Vans Anaheim Factory Sid DX Sneakers are a solid pick). Enjoy delicious food, experience live entertainment, dance barefoot in the grass, peruse the Pride Marketplace and more!

When: Sunday, September 1
Where: Prince’s Island Park

Calgary Glow Party 2019

Calgary, you’re glowing. Like literally, we’re under black lights here. Experience high-energy music, laser lights & LED sticks like you never have before. And don’t forget to wear something that’ll really pop, like Chuck Taylor All Star Mono Leather Sneakers!

When: Saturday, September 7
Where: Knoxville’s Tavern– 840 9 Ave SW

Monster Jam

Long gone are the days of simply getting air and destroying motorhomes (although that’s still a staple). Monster Jam has evolved into a no holds barred celebration of flipping around in crazy trucks. We’re already excited about it, hence why we pulled trig on a sick pair of Timberland Nellie boots for this specific occasion.

When: Saturday, September 7
Where: The Grandstand– 2200 Grandstand Trail S.E

Moonlight Market

Moonlight Market has tons of under $8 street-food inspired eats, artisan goods, and unique and local artists! Check it out and wear your stretchiest pants, plus some eye-catching Vans Checkered Authentic SF Sneakers to distract from the bloat.

When: Saturday, September 14
Where: East Village

Calgary Beer Run

Run 10.6K in some U Path Run Sneakers, drink an unlimited number of brews, high five some people, and avoid the dreaded beer belly. It’s a good time if you ask us.

When: Sunday, September 8
Where: 834 11th Avenue SW

Eric Church

If you don’t shed a single tear every time you hear Springsteen, we don’t know if we can be friends. For the rest of us soft country folk, Eric Church’s concert will be a magical twangy time. We hope he notices that we dressed up (we don’t wear our Matt & Natt Zip Up Boots for just anyone).

When: Saturday, September 21
Where: Scotiabank Saddledome

So that’s that, Calgary! We feel like you have a pretty wicked month ahead of you. Grab your token pumpkin spice flavoured treat and get your September on, we’ll catch you out and about.
