Hear yee-haw, hear yee-haw! Move over Meghan Markle! Make way Mia Thermopolis! The Calgary Stampede have just crowned their 2020 royalty! Unfortunately, it’s not us. Maybe they lost our application.

In a tale as old as time, these strong and almost offputtingly poised women have been duking it out for over a month… And it wasn’t a matter of face value.

These ladies have been pushed to the limit. Judged on their public speaking skills, and their ability to wrangle and ride a valiant steed, the best have finally emerged.

Ladies and gentlemen, let’s meet the 2019 Stampede Royalty! Firstly, we present 22-year-old Kelcey Moore, Calgary Stampede queen. Next, 24-year old Janelle Mackenzie and 22-year old Madeline Kerkovius, crowned Calgary Stampede princesses. Finally, 25-year-old lady Falon Manywounds, as this year’s First Nations princess.

Don’t let the heels, bedazzled stetsons, and perfectly coiffed hair fool you. Stampede royalty is a serious business.

“The Calgary Stampede Royalty program is a testament to celebrating women in western culture for more than 100 years,” spokesperson Rachel Hamilton said in a news release. “I know Kelcey, Janelle and Madeline will continue to represent the Calgary Stampede as ambassadors in western culture and heritage.”

The Calgary Stampede 2020 royalty winners will be seen in next year’s Stampede Parade and during events throughout the grounds.

Congratulations, ladies! We’re sure you’ll make us very proud! Yahoo! Or Yeehaw? Actually, let’s not drag that up again.
