8 Things to do at home and around Calgary this weekend (May 15-18)

Happy long weekend eve, Friends! Another week of quarantine is in the books, but how should we celebrate?! Food, drinks, fresh air? Maybe you’re ready to take on the world as it is in quarantine by taking a stroll around Calgary retail spaces… you know, now that we can officially do that again… at a safe distance. Here are 8 things to do at home and around Calgary this weekend!
Watch Guy Fieri and Bill Murray go head to head in a Nacho showdown
Living legend Bill Murray and mayor of Flavortown, Guy Fieri will take over the Food Network’s Facebook Page for Nacho Average Showdown, Friday, May 15th, in a live contest of salsa, grit, and determination. The event will be judged by none other than Terry Crews and Shaquille O’freaking Neal. Also, they’ll be raising money for the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, an organization that hands out grants of $500 to restaurant employees affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Join other Calgarians at Friday’s YYC Balcony Bash!
The YYC Balcony Bash is by far, the most colourful way Calgarians have been communicating while physically distancing themselves from their neighbours. This lively event kicks off at 6:30 every Friday night with music live from the rooftop patio at Broken City and is broadcast on Twitch for the rest of the city! Join the party!
Go “Clubbing”
Clubs really aren’t our thing, but we’d do almost anything to hit a dance floor and make a fool of ourselves right now. Luckily, DJs all over Canada and Calgary have put their turntables to good use, spinning online sets from their living rooms.
