Dust off those ol’ hiking boots and update that driving playlist of yours because environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson announced this morning that national parks will resume some operations in June.
Day use areas, green spaces, recreational boating, and several trails where physical distancing is possible will be available to the public again as of June 1st. This will include historic sites, waterways, national marine conservation areas, and Canada’s national parks.

Unfortunately, camping in parks will still remain off-limits until at least June 21st, which is when the federal government will reassess the situation. Better safe than sorry! Right?
As for which parks will open, this will be decided on a phase to phase basis, but we’ll get more information next week.
National parks were closed for more than a month so this news is quite literally a breath of fresh air! We’re making progress but we’ve got a long way to go until things go back to ‘normal.’ Until then, stay safe folks!
