They say that you shouldn’t try to fix what isn’t broken, but what if you just want to improve said ‘thing?’ Well, whether you agree or disagree, that’s what Alberta is looking to do with the Stoney Trail Bridge over Calgary’s Bow River.

According to Mayor Naheed Nenshi, widening the bridge will make it safer, it will make life a heck of a lot easier for cyclists and pedestrians and it will create jobs when the city needs them the most – which we suppose is not all bad. Jobs are great! We love jobs.

Of course, because it will make it way easier for people to get around in Calgary, it’s going to cost a hot dollar – a whole $70 million of em’.

Construction on the Bow River Stoney Trail bridge is expected to begin later this fall and will take about 3-years to complete – which we’re hoping will fly right by. In the meantime, those who are going eastbound and westbound will have to use the westbound bridge, so prepare yourselves, Calgary.

Not that we’re any stranger to some good ol’ construction. Right?
