You won’t believe where the most romantic city in Canada is

Drumroll please, folks! And, the most romantic city in Canada in 2019 was… Fort McMurray, Alberta? Wow. Well, given the criteria for Amazon’s ranking, we can kind of understand why that would be the case. But only kind of. Let’s check out how Fort Mac became Canada’s most romantic city.
Basically, throughout 2019 Amazon Canada tracked products that were categorized as ‘romantic’ in their nature. That could be books, candles, jewelry, movies and so on. Amazon then ranked cities with over 20,000 residents on a per capita basis, and compared the results. Weird metrics, but we’re still reading.

Overwhelmingly, cities that aren’t necessarily ‘romantic’ by design took the top spots. Fort Mac, Yellowknife, and Bonnyville (Alberta) were all in the top four. Well, at least Alberta is representing, if not the cities we’d expect. Here’s the list:
- Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Toronto, Ontario
- Yellowknife, Northwest Territories
- Bonnyville, Alberta
- North York, Ontario
- Ottawa, Ontario
- Grande Prairie, Alberta
- Burlington, Ontario
- Kelowna, British Columbia
- Victoria, British Columbia
- Whitehorse, Yukon
- Calgary, Alberta
- Quesnel, British Columbia
- Cranbrook, British Columbia
- Edmonton, Alberta
Want to claim that coveted spot in Amazon’s eyes? Well, you could buy “romantic” things. Or, y’all could just take our advice from our guides and make your own romance with dates, concerts and other fun things to do! At least, that’s what we hope.
