12 Calgary locations make Canada’s 100 Most Romantic Restaurants

Hey there, love bird. Believe it or not, an evening of take-out and Netflix might not fly with your SO this Valentine’s. Surprisingly, there’s just something about mid-scene buffering and having to dust pizza crust crumbs off a couch that really throws the mood. Luckily, OpenTable has released its list of 100 of Canada’s most romantic restaurants in 2020. Now where’s your excuse, buddy?

This list reflects the combined opinions and experiences of 500,000 verified OpenTable diners from more than 3,000 restaurants across Canada. Because of this, we’re going to go ahead and assume it’s at least pretty accurate.

To almost the surprise of no one, steak houses and Italian cuisine were the most popular. This isn’t to say that a few more eclectic joints didn’t snag a spot. Places like Tide and Vine in Niagra Falls and Bundok in Edmonton stood out for their ambience and locally sourced food.

Ontario reigned superior with 46 establishments and Alberta came in second with 21. BC secured third with 15, while Quebec had 13. Finally, Nova Scotia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan rounded it out, each with less than 10.

We’re happy to report that 12 restaurants from Calgary alone managed to make the cut. Although there were a few curveballs, it was mostly exactly what you’d expect.

Bridgette Bar, Cardinale, The Deane House, and the Vintage Chophouse all made the list. Also named were The Nash, Model Milk, Teatro, The Lake House, Vero, Ten Foot Henry, Bow Valley Ranch and Alloy. Write these down, people. These are your next date spots.
