“I swear to God, if I’m the blue ring…” is a sentence that was overheard in the Curiocity office without context this afternoon. Please do your best to imagine our momentary confusion. Turns out, this was a perfectly reasonable concern. You know those ‘who/what ___ you are’ filters that have blown up in the last few weeks? Well, the city just got in on the fun. You can now find out which Calgary landmark you are on Instagram.
We’d like to imagine ourselves as the Calgary courthouse type but alas, that was not an option. You can, however, land on buildings like the National Music Centre or the Calgary Tower, which is what mayor Naheed Nenshi apparently got.

The filter is meant to share city pride among the younger demographic, follower to follower. “We saw this as a fun and positive way to encourage citizens to showcase the vibrancy of our city to the world,” Nenshi said in a release.
Expect to see a lot more of this kind of thing! The city actually plans on launching more experiments like these as they continue to have some fun on social media.
