calgary folk festival cancelled

Today is a super sad day for Calgary, but it’s important to remember, that we could be saving lives! In addition to this afternoon’s announcement that the Calgary Stampede had been cancelled for the first time ever, we received confirmation that the Calgary Folk Fest would also delay all festivities until next year.

“It is tough news for our folk family. We care deeply about our community and everyone’s health, safety, and well being. We support all public health efforts to return to normal and to be able to safely gather again,” organizers said in an official release.

The Calgary Folk Fest has run strong for 43 years,  getting nearly 53,000 people to gather annually in Prince’s Island Park for good music, good food, and sunshine. We can’t help but feel like this summer, we will be missing out something special, but this is for the best.

If you had already purchased a ticket to the event, organizers will be issuing refunds, or if you’d prefer to support the artists, vendors, and the 2021 Calgary Folk Music Festival you may donate your ticket by following the instructions here.

Our hearts are with anyone affected by yet another unexpected cancellation, but we will get through this!

Here’s to 2021!
