They’re cracking down on us, Calgary! We hope most of you are complying with physical distancing measures, but if you’re not, you might be in for a hefty fine. City bylaw officers will start issuing $1,200 tickets for rulebreakers irresponsibly enjoying nicer weather.
It was beautiful last weekend, but some parks and areas like Crescent Road were reportedly overpopulated. Just in the last few days, the Calgary police have conducted about 240 patrols and spoken with more than 1,800 people. That’s insane guys!

“I’m a little frustrated in the sense that there are some groups of people that don’t seem to be getting it,” Tom Sampson, Calgary’s Emergency Management Agency Chief said on distancing fines in a press conference.
“I’m not trying to be dramatic, I’m just trying to say you give us no choice when those things continue,” he continued.
Technically pathways and city green spaces are still open, but under the condition that we’re all collectively being respectful. Please remember to be smart, and be safe, folks! They shouldn’t have to issue distancing fines, that’s crazy. We’re better than this!
