Calgary pet hamper organization in need of donations amid COVID

My goodness, here comes another kind of sad, but also a kind of heartwarming story. Buckle up, people, we’re about to get sentimental. We can honestly say that we’d almost be lost without our four-legged critter in quarantine. Unfortunately, due to an uncertain economic climate, some are being forced to choose between feeding themselves and out and their snuggly isolation pals. Luckily organizations like Parachutes for Pets, have the furry backs of vulnerable animals during the COVID-19 pandemic, so families and their animals can remain happy, healthy, and together.

Parachutes for Pets is a local volunteer-run organization that creates and delivers food as well as supplies to those unable to feed their dogs and cats. Since the COVID crisis hit Calgary mid-March they have actually delivered over 500 pet hampers, but are now in need of the public’s help.

PFP’s pandemic program has been overwhelmed and now they’re asking those who are able, for assistance. They’re accepting donations of cat litter, dog and cat food and/or doggy poop bags. Anything and everything will help a ton and immediately go towards someone in need.

“Every donation is greatly appreciated and we truly believe we can get through these tough times by pulling together and helping each other out,” they say on their website.

If you would like to give or even just donate your time to Parachutes for Pets, you can view their website here. If not, hold your furbaby extra tight and thank your lucky stars. We’re in this together, Calgary. We’ll make it out of this one, just a little while longer.
