This Instagram page is helping the ladies of Calgary find their new BFF
“I need more friends,” said every 20-something year old female, 3 drinks deep after binge-watching 3 straight seasons of Gossip Girl. Wine and dine in alone no more! Girls Connect YYC (@GirlsConnectYYC) is an Instagram account helping Calgarians find their new best friends.
The account frequently posts events and openly invites like-minded ladies to mix and mingle with each other, and it’s freaking genius! This simple, but important concept was created by Cong, a Calgary girl who decided enough was enough.

“I have heard way too many times that it’s so hard to meet new friends in Calgary and I thought it was time to try to change that. When I was living abroad a Facebook group for connecting girls was how I made some of my best friends, so I figured let’s give it a try in Calgary!” Says the Girls Connect YYC Facebook page.
The Girls Connect YYC events range from movie nights, hiking trips, grabbing a drink at a new bar, karaoke nights and everything in between. It really is for anyone and could make a hell of a difference. Thanks, Cong, we’d love to hang out with you! But don’t think for a second we’re splitting our bottle of wine. This friendship is BYOB.
