Flames sign Johnny Gaudreau’s brother to a minor-league deal

Via NHL

The Calgary Flames have added another Gaudreau to their hockey family. Matty Gaudreau, Johnny’s younger brother, has signed a 2-way contract with the Flames’ AHL and ECHL affiliates.

So far, the younger Gaudreau has only spent two years playing pro in the NY Islanders organization. During his time in the ECHL, he’s scored 60 points in 88 games, while putting 5 points together during 17 AHL games. Before that, he suited up at Boston College along with his brother.

Now, he’ll get the chance to hone his craft with the Stockton Heat down in California. As Calgary’s affiliate, Stockton has been the breeding ground for syllable-hoarding recent Flames like Andrew Mangiapane, Mark Jankowski, and Rasmus Andersson.

Although 24-year-old Matty Gaudreau might not host the same resume his older brother does it’ll be interesting to see how he fares with the Flames organization. After all, Johnny Hockey will be able to teach him all the NHL tips and tricks. (Like staying hydrated).
