We’re better together, which is why when Arlene Dickinson from Dragon’s Den teamed up with Mayor Naheed Nenshi, they basically made magic for the Calgary Food Bank. With the help of the Twitterverse, the pair managed to raise over $200,000 dollars for the local organization.

The dynamic duo and Calgary food bank CEO, James McAra, took to the social media platform and in a video announced that Dickinson and her family would donate $1, up to $10,000, for every retweet they received during the pandemic.

After only 48 hours, the entrepreneur had announced that they had hit the $110,000 mark, with money coming in from all over Canada. Finally, with a donation of $60,000 from Toyota, the campaign had hit $200,000.

Donations will now help people who have been affected by the COVID outbreak, which is an incredible amount considering only $1 can buy $5 of food.

This is insane, folks. A cool $1,000,000 worth of grub will now feed Calgary’s families and they’re still collecting donations! Congrats to Arlene Dickinson, Mayor Nenshi and everyone else involved and thank you to everyone who donated! You’re all amazing!

Now let’s get them to $300,000!
