COVID ‘Porch’raits by Neil Zeller to be shown at the Glenbow Museum

This year has been something else. To be honest, if not for a few Instagram posts, empty chip bags, and several quaran-tini influenced texts, we’re not sure what we’d really have to show for 2020. Luckily, thanks to Calgary photographer, Neil Zeller, some families, and their COVID experience will be immortalized beautifully in a new exhibit at YYC’s Glenbow Museum.

When the world seemed to have stood still, he stood 6 feet back. Inspired by a series of lockdown porch-raits done by Pat Kane, a photographer from Yellowknife, Zeller also began offering an alternatively done shoot.

Over the last few months, over 650 families have been photographed from driveways, underneath balconies, and through windows or doors. All sessions were completely safe and for a while – actually took people’s minds off of everything going on.

Now, after having caught the attention of media, couples, and isolated households, along with reminding people that it’s okay to laugh, smile, and have fun – even during a pandemic, Zeller’s photo’s will be shown in the Glenbow Museum.

Featuring 55 diverse, humourous, hard-hitting photographs, Porchraits: Calgary Families in Isolation During COVID-19 will run from Saturday, September 5th until Saturday, October 31st.

Tickets are available now, and are available on their official website here! You guys won’t want to miss it!
