A major Yoko Ono exhibit is coming to Contemporary Calgary in 2020

Via the new yorkerVia Cork Midsummer festival

The folks at Contemporary Calgary, YYC’s new wave art gallery, announced their ambitious 2020 lineup today! Starting January 23rd, aesthetes can expect to see a kick-off of incredible exhibits by Yoko Ono, Omar Ba and UK-based Luke Jerram, among other well-known and local artists.

From January to March, Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing with Jerram’s Museum of The Moon, a tribute to the historic 1969 event. The impressive installation will feature a scale model of the moon suspended above the planetarium.

From January to April, admire awe-inspiring works by over 30 local artists in their Planetary exhibit; and from May to August, open your mind with Growing Freedom: The instructions of Yoko Ono and the art of John and Yoko. This two-part exhibition of peace and activism will include rarely seen footage, stills, and stories from the legendary Montreal Bed-In for Peace protest.

Also, the gallery has chosen to extend its daily hours and will now be open for 6 days a week! One time admission to the gallery is $10, but starting January 23 of 2020, annual memberships will only be $20! If you’d like more information or want to view the complete gallery schedule, you can do so here!
