Climb all 802 stairs in the Calgary Tower for a good cause this month

Remeber that one time? After a couple of drinks, you told your friends you could “definitely climb the Calgary Tower” because it “isn’t actually that tall,” and now you’ve got to prove it. This month, climb all 802 steps of the iconic building for a good cause… and a good ol’ “told you so.”
It’s no Everest, but it’s certainly no joke either. This event is definitely not for the faint of heart! Is it impossible? Of course not! This is definitely not the first time people have tackled the Calgary Tower stair climb for charity, but it is difficult. Really, really, difficult… for us mortal folk, anyway.
The event is held annually by Fair Trade Calgary in support of ethical exchange and the Calgary Food Bank. There’s no need to register ahead of time, which gives you a few weeks to decide whether or not it’s for you. No judgement if it’s not, we have a hard time with the steps in our two storey apartment building.

If you decide (or are pressured) to take on the 802 Challenge, organizers just ask that you bring $10 and a donation to the CFB. Easy peasy, right? They also recommend wearing a laced-up pair of extremely reliable running shoes.
Heck, maybe wear hiking boots, and bring a snack. Camping equipment even! You might need to take a break, a nap, or a day to recover. Good luck, Calgary!
