Car2Go is saying goodbye to Calgary

Via Cody Maclean

Well, what the heck? Ridesharing service, Car2go is saying goodbye to the roads of Calgary. We’re honestly kind of shocked.

Since they hit the streets in 2012, Car2Go has been a reliable, affordable and convenient way to get around the city. But, it looks like due to a “highly volatile” transportation market, they’re calling it quits.

“This decision was not made lightly. We have had to face the hard reality that despite our efforts, we underestimated the investment and resources that are truly necessary to make our service successful in these complex transportation markets amid a quickly changing mobility landscape,” The company said a statement.

It looks like we weren’t the only ones to get the bad news today. Austin, Portland, Chicago and Denver will also no longer have access to the service. Should we start a support group?

Car2go will park it on October 31st, so enjoy it while it lasts, Calgary.
