Lime’s Dockless bikes come to Calgary at last

There was a lot of chatter about bike lanes– and by chatter, we mean heated arguments– so we’re sure our city will have something to say about the fact that a bike-share pilot program is on its way. Stay tuned for the details on Lime’s recently-approved “smart mobility” program.
The City of Calgary gave green bikes the green light on October 29, so you can expect to see 400 emerald e-bikes cruising the streets by next week. Not unlike Car2Go, you’ll be able to find the bikes around the city through an app working with GPS locators. All you’ve gotta do is lock your bike once you’re done with it, and leave it there until it’s scooped up by someone else. Easy peasy lemon (lime?) squeezy.
If you’re not a Tour de France type though, don’t fret. Hills are hard and Lime is swooping in to save us from some killer calf burn. We’ll be able to use pedal-assist e-bikes, which means that those uphill jaunts will avoid becoming difficult difficult lemon difficult.
Scott Harvey, Lime’s Operations Manager for Calgary, says that he hopes to “empower Calgarians with greener, more efficient, and affordable transportation options.” They might have a little competition though since U-Bicycle— another bike-share company— is expected to commence operations in the spring of 2019. Looks like the Battle of the Green Two Wheelers will be keeping us entertained all year long.
