Calgary could get a severe thunderstorm tonight

Park your cars in the garage and hold on to your hats, YYC. Preparation is key! As of this afternoon, the Government of Canada has issued another thunderstorm watch for the City of Calgary.
Only weeks ago, the city was rocked by what we can only really describe as the spring storm from hell. Hail, heavy rain and hard winds damaged houses, cars, and nearly destroyed what little patience and positivity we had left in 2020, but we got through it!

Honestly don’t believe that tonights (probable) thunderstorm in Calgary will compare to what we saw earlier this month, (so that’s a win) but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to bring in your plants and fold up your lawn chairs.
Now, some parts of the city will still have some time to BBQ their dinner outside or drive home from work safely, but it won’t be long until the clouds roll in from the south. According to the hourly forecast, 5 pm is when we’ll begin to see some spitting, and they don’t expect it to stop until 11 pm.
Stay safe, stay dry and stay inside, Calgary!
