A Canadian just bought the most expensive Nikes in the world

Shoe collecting can be a pretty zany time. And, the sale of the most expensive Nikes in the world yesterday was a watershed moment for the game. Miles Nadal is a Toronto based investor, and he shelled out just under half a million dollars USD for a pair of 1972 Nike running shoes.
Why? Well, they are one of only 12 pairs hand made by Bill Bowerman, the Nike co-founder. Plus, they’re the only unworn pair in existence. The story goes that he wanted grippier shoes for his athletes. So, he experimented with his wife’s waffle iron and some rubber to get the outsole right. Ok, that’s pretty fire.

What’s even crazier though is that just a few days ago, Nadal spent around $850k USD on 99 other pairs being offered by sneaker reseller Stadium Goods. Apparently, he wanted the moon shoes to be included in the sale, but the consignor (@shoezeum) opted for the online auction. Good call there, friend.
So, to all the 12-year-olds out there wanting to flex on their friends with the latest Yeezys, we say good luck. This guy wants to display his collection in an car museum. So, you’re better off growing up, building a solid nest egg, then spending a literal fortune on everything you wanted as a kid.
Or, go back to sneaker culture roots by camping outside of your store for a couple of days. Maybe in a few decades you can hold the most expensive Nikes in your hands, too.
