Sneaky, sneaky! While we’ve all been in quarantine, a few highly anticipated restaurants have opened right under the city’s noses. Others are getting pretty close to their summer launch, and what kind of friend to the public be if we didn’t share them with you! Restrictions on eateries and bars are lifting ever so slowly, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a bite from the newest joints. Here are 6 new restaurants in Calgary that have opened or will open soon!
V Burger
Mystery solved! V Burger claimed it’s 17th Avenue location months ago, but was extremely hush-hush about the whole production. Finally, now that they have a sign above their door we can tell you guys about this plant-based experience. These guys will be selling vegan shakes, fries, onion rings, ice ‘cream’ and of course, burgers. Drool.
When: TBD
Where: 819 17 avenue SW, Calgary
Farm and Fire
Okay, we know that this isn’t technically in Calgary, but they deserve a shoutout! Farm & Fire had to go through a heck of a lot to get to opening day, but they made it! Banff’s new restaurant Farm & Fire is a cozy experience. With locally-sourced ingredients, Alberta proud partnerships, and an incredible menu, Pursuits’ new spot is a must-see, must-eat.
When: Now open
Where: The Elk + Avenue Hotel at 333 Banff Avenue
Eat Crow

Eat Crow comes from the folks behind the Brasserie, which closed it’s doors recently. With a new concept, this new restaurant will actually take its place in Kensington! Their menu will be light and affordable with a ton of vegetarian, vegan, dairy & gluten-free options to accommodate everyone. Customers can dine on items like root vegetable tartare, handmade perogies, or a signature butter’ scotch’ cream puff among other things, guilt and concern free!
When: Now open!
Where: 1131 Kensington Rd NW
Meltwhich
We’ll level with you, Meltwich certainly isn’t super lactose friendly, but man do they make a tasty sammy. They have traditional sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks, mac and cheese bites, poutine, burgers, wraps, and even beer! Does it really get any better than that? We think not.
When: June 2020
Where: 1610 10 St SW, Calgary
Royaltea

With their unconventional cups, inventive flavour, theatrical snacks, and beautiful space, RoyalTea YYC has reinvented the Calgary bubble tea scene. Somehow they’ve found a way to make the popular drink even more fun. We never in a million years thought this to be possible.
When: Now Open!
Where: 931 10 Ave SW, Calgary
Annabelles Italian Kitchen
After 13 years of occupying their iconic space on Stephen Avenue, Blink has closed its doors. Luckily in its place, sister resto, Annabelle’s Italian Kitchen will take its place. This will be their second Annabelle’s location, and we couldn’t be more excited. Who doesn’t love pasta and wine?
When: TBD
Where: 111 8 Ave SW, Calgary
There you have it, folkarinos. 6 new Calgary restaurants already open or about to open. How about cancelling those dinner plans and grabbing some spiffy never-before eaten grub? Enjoy!
