Happy Hour of the Week: 1/2 price bar bites on 8th Ave
What’s up Calgary! So, it’s finally here. The moment we have all been waiting for is upon us. That’s right, baby- it’s patio season! To celebrate, we’re featuring The Guild for this week’s Happy Hour of the Week. Why? ‘Cause their incredible people-watching/pet-friendly patio and brand new happy hour is seriously something to write home about.
THE PATIO
If you don’t already know, The Guild is located on the ground floor of the historic Hudson’s Bay building on Stephen Ave. Their large patio sits underneath the historic arches and extends all the way to the Stephen Ave walkway.
It’s totally iconic and makes a perfect backdrop for any occasion, whether it’s sipping sangria with pals or enjoying dinner with the family. Anyway, let’s get to their happy hour. I mean, it is what you’re here for.
THE WHEN
Their happy hour is from 2 pm to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
THE WHAT
- $4 highballs
- $5 pints
- $6 glasses of wine (red, white and rose on tap)
- $9 cocktails (all 8th Ave Originals)
- ½ priced bar bites
When they say bar bites, they’re talking about a big selection of some totally delicious foods. Think deep fried mac & cheese, three baby cheeseburgers, roasted bone marrow, salt & pepper ribs, kimchi chicken wings, crispy calamari, smoky deviled eggs, and dry-aged bone-in meatballs.
Our personal favourites? Deep fried mac & cheese…duh. Also, the meatballs and kimchi chicken wings. Also, everything else. Dang, sorry guys- it’s half priced, just get them all. You won’t regret it!
On the other hand, the 8th Ave Originals are crafty libations brand new to their menu, running for only $9 during happy hour! A few of them are spring inspired, and we can just imagine ourselves soaking up the sun with a few of these flowin’.
The Wild Rose is made with Beefeater gin, St-Germain elderflower, Prosecco, lemon, cucumber, and rose syrup. The 2 AM Text (LOL) has rose petal-infused Sub Rosa gin, Lillet Blanc, Prosecco, lemon, Earl Grey and lavender bitters. They’re both super tasty, so you can’t go wrong no matter what you choose.
On another note, in true spring fashion, The Guild has recently been out with the old and in with the new. They’ve just launched their brand new lunch and dinner menus, and they are worth serious praise. Our picks? The Crispy Chicken Burger with maple butter and back bacon and the Salt & Pepper Squid with Octopus.
