Calgary reflects on their time at Ranchman’s after it’s announced it has been put up for lease

Via Ranchman's Cookhouse and Dance Hall

Mechanical bulls, a seemingly endless catalogue of honkytonk hits, and a front-row seat to the very best of the worst during the Stampede. For the first time in its 50 year history, iconic country bar, Ranchman’s Cookhouse and Dancehall has been listed as ‘for lease’, meaning a good chunk of Calgary’s western magic could be yours for a “small” fee.

Unfortunately, even Calgary’s most popular spots were left vulnerable when the COVID virus hit the city.

Despite it’s impressive 17,000 total square feet of space, Ranchmans has actually become a city favourite for a lot more than just its elbow room. This place has seen some wild events and performers in its day and it also holds quite the collection of backwoods memorabilia, all of which we’re hoping is all preserved by whoever it is that takes over. Turns out we’re certainly not the only ones!

Our fingers are crossed, Calgary! Honestly, after such an outpouring of love, we can’t imagine that keeping its charm intact is something we really have to worry about, but crazier things have happened.

If you’re interested in checking out the original listing – either because you have the money and are interested or just miss the place and want to look at pictures, you can check it out here.

We’re counting on you, whoever you are that takes over! With great power, comes great responsibility – No pressure, though.
