A new grocery delivery service is opening its first Western Canadian centre in Alberta


We’ve all been there. You go to the grocery store for eggs or bread, and then the second you step foot anywhere near the frozen food section it all goes to hell. “Too bad there’s no way of making a list and sticking to it without having to pass the chip aisle,” they said sarcastically.
Online grocery shopping has skyrocketed to popularity over the last few months due to COVID, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be any less convenient when all of this is said and done. This is why Voila, an e-commerce delivery company has planned to open a fulfilment centre, right here in Alberta!

Once built, the company will launch its home delivery app, which will make grocery shopping a snap come 2023 – which is when they believe they’ll be ready to open.
Not only will this be super helpful for people like ourselves, who can’t even be trusted to wall past a box of waffles; they also estimate that it will create about 1,500 jobs in the Rocky View area, which is amazing!
Empire, the company behind Voila and other grocery stores like Safeway and Sobey’s, currently operates a centre in Ontario and has plans to open another in Montreal; which means that Alberta will be their first shop in Western Canada! Consider us honoured.
Honestly, this is pretty neato, guys, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for more from them. Until then, keep supporting your local grocery stores, wear masks and resist the urge to buy the Eggos. You are stronger than you think!
