Not to toot our own horn, but we were right! Last month, after some detective work and even buying into IMDB plus (which was totally not worth the money), we concluded that Brad Pitt’s production company would be shooting their very first Amazon original TV show, Outer Range, right here in Calgary.
Toot, toot! We were right, and now we’re pleased to announce that they have cast their lead! Thanos Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame, Deadpool 2, Planet Terror) has signed on to play Royal Abbott, a Wyoming rancher fighting for his land and family when he discovers an unfathomable mystery in the wilderness. How mysterious.

Alberta is becoming a sort of hot spot for wilderness-type movies, probably because it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than filming in the States. To that, we say, “keep bringing it, Hollywood!” Just in the last few years, Brokeback Mountain, The Revenant, and The Assassination of Jesse James, which coincidentally starred Brad Pitt, were all shot here.
This particular big-budget thriller is set to begin filming later this spring and wrap in the first week of September, which gives us plenty of time to seek out the Oscar award-winner and ask him if we can borrow the infinity gauntlet for our office show and tell. Who knows, maybe we’ll also have a run-in with Pitt too. Producers usually check out the set now and again, right?
