Well, folks. Like most of you, we’re on the edge of our seats waiting for an update on the Calgary Stampede. Since it was established as an annual event in 1923, the Greatest Show on Earth has been held without fail, rain, shine, hell or high water. This year though, things are looking uncertain.
Luckily, for those who rely on the event financially or creatively, we can expect answers by the end of the week. The Stampede Board of Directors held a series of meetings Tuesday evening to discuss holding the July function.

Every year, the 10-day show brings an estimated $400 million into the local economy and sees people from all over the world, so we can’t imagine they’ll be taking this decision lightly. Unfortunately, though, the large crowds definitely don’t comply with WHO’s social distancing recommendations, so it’s not looking great.
Until we have an answer, we’ll be keeping our fingers and toes crossed. The Calgary Stampede means so much to us as a city, not only because it’s great for local businesses, but because the event has become a symbol of our cities resilience.
As we learn more, we’ll keep you guys updated, and as always, stay safe, stay smart, and stay home!
