5 things to know about the Flames clinching a playoff spot

Curiocity Group Inc.

The Flames are hot. It’s almost time to dust off those Red Mile boots and get ready for (fingers crossed) a long trek into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Flames secured their spot in the second season this past weekend, so we figured it’s about time to take a quick look at what boys in red. Here are 5 things to know about the Flames playoffs.

Best in the West

At the time of this writing, the Flames are the top-ranked team in the Western Conference. If this holds true by the time they get into the playoffs, that means they’ll be blessed with Home-ice advantage all the way through playoffs. That means A LOT of Red Mile parties. Here’s hoping!

Youngsters Stepping Up

The Flames have only made the playoffs 2 of the last 5 seasons, so our young stars haven’t had too many opportunities to test themselves when the hockey gets real tough. If the Flames want any shot at making a run, they’ll need Monahan, Johnny Hockey, and the young Tkachuk to be their very best. All three are having career years, so we’re not too nervous.

Division Champs

If the Flames finish atop their division this season, it’ll be only the second time in twenty-three years that they have done so. Sure, it’s not the Stanley Cup, but adding a Division Champs banner to the rafters would be pretty nice. Plus, the Saddledome’s aesthetic can use all the help it can get.

Matchups

As of right now, the Flames are most likely to play either the Arizona Coyotes or the Minnesota Wild in the first round. Calgary has a winning record against both squads this season, so we’re not too worried about which team the boys in red will line up against first. Actually, give us Arizona. Those boys are always ready for the golf season.

Red Mile

As per usual, Calgary will be ready to party when the Flames hit the playoff ice. With some new(ish) spots on the Red Mile, like Home and Away and a new Ceili’s location, there will be lots of spots to settle down (lol) to watch some hockey at!

We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop on what the Calgary Flames have going on heading into the playoffs. For now, just start getting your facepaint ready. Go Flames!
