There’s nothing quite like a 21st birthday party. Chances are you probably don’t remember yours very well… if you did it properly. Bookers BBQ and Crab Shack in downtown Calgary is turning the big two-one and to celebrate, they’re inviting you to party with some southern hospitality.
Since opening their doors in 1998 Bookers has been one of downtown Calgary’s best-kept secrets. Tucked away in a century-old brick warehouse, the restaurant is one of the East Village’s must-sees and a local Calgary favourite for comfort food. From their signature BBQ plates to their hefty crab buckets, everything is authentically southern and crazy delicious.

Like the restaurant itself, this ‘Merika’ themed party will be anything but ordinary. Calgary 80’s hair-band, Rock Bottom, will take the stage at 9:00 pm and have you singing along to every song until close. Door prizes will be available and you can feast on $20 chicken fajitas while slamming back $6 Wild Rose pints. Not bad at all.
If you’re feeling commemorative, sample a shot or two of El’ Tequileno tequila. You might wake up the next morning feeling as red, white, and blue as the party decor, but that should be what you expect after a 21st birthday party.
Bookers just keeps getting better with age, and they dont plan on going anywhere soon. From being featured on The Food Network as one of their favorite BBQ joints in Canada, to serving up the biggest, baddest BBQ the city has seen, here’s to 21 more incredible years!
