Lougheed House was originally built in 1891. It used to be known as “Beaulieu” (French for “beautiful place”), and we have to admit that the name still makes a lot of sense. From the gardens to the grand sandstone design, it gives off major high society vibes.

However, Lougheed House isn’t without modern charm, either. The local, gourmet cuisine from the restaurant is fresh as ever. Plus, the gardens are constantly bursting with new life. Grab your basket and camp out on the grass for a picnic or bring your dog, everyone’s welcome and the site is free 7 days a week.

Don’t leave without checking out the inside of the place, though. Everything has been restored to its former Beaulieu glory. Even more impressive, the place hosts ever-changing and permanent museum exhibits, like Roar: Exploring Queer History and Gender Identity.
