Hundreds of brand new Bird Scooters arrive in Calgary

Since their arrival in Calgary in early July, Lime Scooters have taken the city by storm. Now, another e-scooter company is hitting the streets, as Bird Scooters have dropped a few hundred of their own two-wheeled devices into town. That number is just the beginning, too. Bird is expected to have 500 scooters roaming the streets of Calgary within the next few weeks. Looks like scootin’ around town is going to be easier than ever, folks!
What’s the difference between Bird scooters and Lime? Well, Lime is green and Bird is black, so that’s a start. Also, Bird claims that the scooters we’ll get in Calgary, the Bird One, are the best-designed e-scooters on the market.
We can neither confirm nor deny that claim, but the black and white look is pretty slick.
Oh, Bird is also swinging a little deal for the first two weeks of operations in Calgary! Until August 12th, 2019, the $1.15 unlocking fee is completely waived. Sure, that might not seem like a lot, but once you start hitting up ride after ride that number definitely adds up.
Bird scooters are going to be charging 35 cents per minute of use, which is a little pricier than the 30 cents a minute that Lime has been charging. Regardless of your scooter company preference, we’d say the popularity of e-scooters in Calgary has made it necessary for a little competition to come to town.
