8 Things to do at home and around Calgary this week (June 1-5)


Happy Sunday, YYC! We hope your weekends were warm, safe, bright, and eventful! This week we’re kicking off a brand new month with exciting new events, activities, openings, and the next phase in Alberta’s relaunch. How exciting! Alright, we’ve got a lot to cover, so let’s just get into it! Here are 8 things to do in Calgary or at home this week!
Safely visit Banff national park
Finally! It’s here! Canada’s national parks and historical sites have been given the go-ahead to let the public back in, at a limited capacity. Go out there and get some fresh air, folks!
Virtually ‘visit’ Telus Sparks Body Worlds: Animals Inside Out
See Body Worlds: Animals inside out from the comfort of your own couch. Join animal expert extraordinaire, Zack Anderson, Spark’s own Director of Education, and explore an exhibit that gives the viewer a rare up-close look at animal anatomy.

Last week, Calgary officially kicked off phase 1 of Alberta’s relaunch strategy, by opening retail spaces, salons, bars and restaurants. Have a drink at one of Calgary’s favourite breweries, or grab a bite at your favourite eatery!
Take an online cooking class taught by Calgary’s best
With Brewery and the Beast’s Homeschool Series, foodies can get ultra creative in the kitchen and behind the bar. Every week the video series will feature festival alumni chefs and guest bartenders, who will take you step-by-step through creating cocktails and unique dishes via live stream.

This is your chance to document and publically share what life in quarantine has been like for you. Glenbow Museum wants to hear from you! Dear Glenbow is a project encouraging Calgarians to write a letter to them detailing your experience during the COVID pandemic in the hopes of inspiring future artists and exhibits at the museum.

This June, Disney + will be treating our eyeballs to several beloved classics and highly anticipated Disney original content.
