Woah nelly, it’s the last weekend of July. We feel like this summer is just flying by, and we need to make the most of it with our things to do lists more than ever. Lucky for us, this weekend is chock full of fun stuff to get up to. Here are 8 things to do this weekend in Calgary!
Folk Fest
If you didn’t know, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the Calgary Folk Music Festival, and they have pulled out all the stops. Running four days at the end of July, the fest has over 70 artists on the lineup.

Shakespeare By The Bow
What goes with a picnic and sunny afternoon in one of Calgary’s fave places? Shakespeare by the Bow! Soak up the scenery during Theatre Calgary’s annual outdoor production.

When: July 27 to August 18
Cost: Admission is pay-by-donation
Nick Cave: Feat. Exhibit
The newest exhibit to grace The Glenbow Museum, the Nick Cave: Feat. exhibit features the artist’s signature Soundsuits as well as sculpture, video and installation works. Nick Cave, often referred to as a “messenger” is interested in connecting people and ideas. Through Nick Cave’s brilliantly colourfully and politically charged art, he seeks to transform anger and despair into love, action, and possibility.
When: Runs throughout the month

Wings Over Springbank Airshow
With over 60 types of aircraft dazzling audiences in the air and on the ground, the Wings Over Springbank Airshow is sure to be something special. Not only that, but proceeds from the event will be going directly to Wellspring Calgary.
When: Saturday, July 27 & Sunday, July 28; Gates open 10am both days

Look, everyone likes glow-in-the-dark. You’re lying if you say you don’t. So why not go to a party with high-energy music, blacklighting, laser lights & LED sticks?! Unless you’re allergic to fun… in that case definitely do not attend.

Movie In The Park
Ever since Danny and Sandy had that iconic drive-in movie date, we’ve wanted to recreate the scene. Gotta get that summer lovin’ in some time, right?! Luckily for us Calgarians, there’s a show going on at Bowness Park this weekend. Hint: the film contains the iconic phrase “heeyyyy you guuuUUUyyyyys!” (…It’s The Goonies, people.)

Pet-A-Palooza
Pet-A-Palooza says that 1 in 10 Calgary residents own at least one dog, and based on our friend group we think that number could be even higher. So, round up all the furry friends you have (plus their owners) and head down to this massive pet festival.
