Hello folks! And welcome to our guide to things to do in Calgary this week. We’re pretty excited- this week is Sled Island, and the massive festival is sure to give the rest of the city some energy. Otherwise, we suggest going to Oprah, that angel in the flesh.

Here are 8 things we think you should do this week.

Kick things off in style

One of three Sled Island events we’re going to feature this week. The kickoff party is your chance to go network (read: drink) with a bunch of other music enthusiasts. Who knows, maybe you’ll meet some future bandmates and the three of you can make lo-fi synth dance in a bedroom.

Enjoy some Japanese Breakfast

This lo-fi pop band is one of the most highly anticipated concerts of Sled Island. We’re talking krautrock, we’re talking shoegaze, we’re talking sounds of the ‘cosmos unfurling’. Trippy.

Clear your path with Oprah

Oprah’s running through Cowtown, woohoo! Oh, and word on the street is that she’ll be bringing out a special guest. Fingers crossed it’s someone cool and not just that Nate Berkus dude presenting us with interior design tips and $20 gift cards to Bed, Bath & Beyond.
