Via ourparkonline

Whew! This week has just flown by, hasn’t it? We must’ve all been excited about the weather this weekend (HA!). Yes, snow is in the forecast. But we must all resist the urge to hibernate. We’re Calgarians. We’re used to this! We believe in you, even if you don’t believe in yourself. Here are 8 things to do in Calgary this weekend to get you started!

BACKTRAXX AT THE PALACE

Travel through 20 years of time on the dancefloor of the Palace. It’ll basically feel like you’re listening to your Spotify throwback playlist, but it’ll be louder, and you’ll probably have more fun with it than you do alone in your apartment with a cheap glass of wine.

HERITAGE BALLOON FESTIVAL

It’s a bird, it’s a plane… its a balloon! The Heritage Balloon Festival is a must-see this weekend. You may have seen a 747 take off from the airport but we bet it didn’t inflate right before your eyes! Stay after hours to watch the balloons glow in the dark. It’s worth bundling up for.

PARKLUXE FASHION SHOW

What’s almost as good as Paris Fashion Week? … Well, New York fashion week… But what’s almost as good as that?! Calgary fashion weekEND! PARKLUXE is a night of luxury presented by Downtown Calgary. It showcases Canada’s premier designers. Shop with your eyes and feast with your ears on the live music, and mix and mingle with Calgary’s most influential.

AFTER-HOURS AT THE ZOO

This weekend, you’re a kid again. You’re better dressed then you were when you were five. And you don’t need to be told to eat your vegetables. But you’ll get just excited when you see the animals as you did on your third-grade field trip. Press your nose to the glass and fawn over the gorillas before you head inside for drinks and dinner. The menu looks spectacular and you might even learn a thing or two!

When: Saturday, September 28
Where: 210 St. George’s Drive NE, Calgary
Time: 6 PM- 10 PM

CALGARY VS. EDMONTON PRE-SEASON GAME

It’s another battle of Alberta! This Saturday settle in with a dome beer and a pocket dog. Watch our provincial teams duke it out for the last time before the season starts October 3rd. We’re placing our bet on the Flames.

SUNDAY DRAG BRUNCH

OKTOBERFEST

Leapin’ lederhosen! Stomp your heels on the tables, it’s Oktoberfest in Calgary! Fill your stein to the rim with Authentic German Beers. Munch a pretzel or two (unpopular opinion, but we’d recommend the mustard over the cheese.) Hassel-Hoff to live german music. We’re not sure what that sounds like, but we’re sure it’ll get you going.
