8 things to do at home this weekend in Calgary (April 3-5)

What’s that? Did we just hear you say you’re getting bored in self-isolation?? Woah, that’s pretty crazy, ya’ll. How dare you be bored while there’s an international crisis going on! Just kidding, we’re all feeling a little of that creep in these days. The good news is, if boredom is our biggest struggle right now, we’re doing pretty well. But hey, we get it. We’re all looking for a little something to keep us entertained at home! Well, lucky for you we’ve got some ideas.
Here are 8 things to do at home this weekend in Calgary.
THANK A FRONTLINE WORKER
It’s easy to get caught up in our own restlessness during this very odd time we’re all going through. But sometimes we’ve all got to take a second and send some gratitude to those who do not have the luxury of staying at home right now. There are tons of doctors, nurses, hospital workers, and essential business employees that are all out there every day fighting to keep us safe and afloat. So why not send them a thank you card? Just head on over to this website and give some gratitude!
Find some fun new people on Instagram
Yesterday, we put out a list of 10 essential Canadian artists that you should follow on Instagram. Yeah, we like to follow celebs, especially people like the ones we picked. They’ve either always been great or are up the come up. Either way, check them out!
Or, just hit up a concert
We have to give a shoutout to Songkick for just listing every live-stream concert as though it was a real one. Now, all you have to do is browse the list and see which artist you want to catch live! Easy-peasy, folks.
SIP SOME VINO
Just cause you’re stuck at home doesn’t mean you can’t indulge on a classy little pastime. Right now, you can do a virtual wine tasting with experts from Napa Valley. So gather up the squad (via video chat) and get sipping!
QUENCH YOUR WANDERLUST THIRST
Just because you’re stuck at home doesn’t mean you have to feel like you’re stuck at home. Check out this travel website to plan you first adventure out of quarantine. There’s basically like an Airbnb but for vacations. Sigh, we can dream right?
Check in with yourself
Things are stressful, we’re not going to lie. That’s why we’re highlighting a new initiative from Shoppers Drug Mart, which aims to provide every Canadian with access to mental health resources online. So, if you think you might benefit, just click the link and check it out!
Watch some short films
If you didn’t know, the SXSW Festival was cancelled this year. Makes sense to us, and we were happy to learn that they’re taking their short film festival online for free. Tired of rewatching Tiger King episodes? Sure you are. Here are a couple other options.
Go Shopping
Each week, we’re realizing how important this is, so it’s sticking around. A lot of independent businesses are going to be under pretty intense financial stress for a while. So if you’ve got some spending money, support them. Order takeout/delivery, buy that shirt off Etsy, get a book delivered from a local store… whatever it is, your extra buck or two is more important than ever.
So don’t you worry, there’s tons of things to do to pass the time. We’re in the process of planning our Napa Valley retreat. What will you be doing from this list?
