Happy Thursday, folks! We’re back with another roundup of fun things that you can do a home this weekend. We’ve got movie suggestions, arts and culture stuff, some free video games to play, and a whole lot more. Let’s see what this weekend has in store.
Here are 8 things to do at home this weekend in Calgary.
Check out a huge quarantine concert
On Saturday, the One World: Together at Home’ benefit concert is going on and will feature some of the biggest names in music. Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney, Sam Smith, the list goes on and on. Definitely a fun way to spend an hour while you’re watching TV.
Explore the greatest treasure in Russia
The Hermitage Museum is without a doubt one of the most impressive museums in the world. Second only to the Louvre in terms of size, the Hermitage houses Russia’s finest treasures, plus a whole lot more. Check out a single shot walkthrough of the museum, and think about a trip to Moscow next summer?
Take advantage of free PS4 games
This sadly only applies to those who own the console, but whatever. For the next little while, every PS4 owner can get four different games for free. Three are from the Uncharted series, while the fourth is a fun little adventure game called Journey.
Relive your childhood
But, like, in an ambivalent way. Know why The Land Before Time is never brought up for movie night? Because it’s a sad movie with a lot of adult tones. It’s still fantastic, don’t get us wrong, which is why it coming to Netflix Canada unannounced was surprising.
Get a little romantic
We put out a guide on the best romantic date ideas that are still social-distancing friendly. We’ve got a couple of single friends who are on Tinder/Bumble/whatever, and this list is perfect for them to make the most of a brave new world.
MEDITATE
Okay, this is a bit of a stressful time for everyone. And if you wanna find your zen, check out these 5 amazing meditation apps. They’ll guide you to wellness, all from the comfort of your own home. Nice, usually we just hyperventilate into a lunch bag (not advised).
ORDER SOME PIZZA
Okay, this one may seem pretty run of the mill, but trust us there’s a happy twist. When you order a pizza from Little Caesars you’ll have the option to “Pie It Forward” and send a pie to medical workers, police, and firefighters in your neighbourhood. What a delicious way to say thanks to the folks who’ve earned it.
Listen to the radio
Well, not just the radio though. The American Archive of Public Broadcasting is an absolute goldmine of programming for years gone by. Documentaries about civil wars? Check. Radio programs from the sixties? Of course. And like most stuff we recommend, accessing all this is completely free.
We’re actually pretty darn interested in that archived website. We stumbled across a few fun PBS documentaries that we think might satisfy the whole left by us finishing very episode of everything on Netflix. Just kidding, but not really.
Enjoy your weekend!
