It’s officially here, folks. We’ve survived lockdowns, cancellations, quarantine concerts, Megxit, a political storm, and even saw actual footage of a UFO this year. To celebrate the very last month of 2020, we’re encouraging you guys to really live it up – physically distanced from each other of course – by starting with this week’s round-up of fun and totally safe things to do in Calgary.

In an effort to promote safe socialization, some public parks in Calgary have been fitted with temporary fire pits and, as if that wasn’t cool enough, they’re also offering free wood. STROLL WESTERN CANADA’S LARGEST OUTDOOR DISPLAYS
For the 25th year in a row, Western Canada’s largest outdoor walk-through display will light up the chilliest nights of the year. Drink hot chocolate, take a lap around the ice rink, take photos, and cozy up next to their fire all December long during Airdrie’s Festival of Lights! You won’t want to miss it!

It’s market season! Every Thursday and Friday until December 18th, explore quaint shops and artisan booths or go for a drink on Selkirk’s Winter Patio. Once you’ve shopped and are ready to drop, relax by the fire and make a s’more or have your pet’s picture taken with Santa!

ROLL PAST THE LIONS’ PARK FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
Stay safe, stay dazzled! Like many other events this year, Calgary’s Lions’ Park has had to adjust the way that they do things – but it’s nothing that you’re not already used to! Instead of taking to 14th street on foot, get your holiday spirit on from behind the wheel, and drive through their 500,000-bulb display.

SING ALONG TO STORYBOOK THEATRE’S ‘ANNIE’
Luckily for our sanity throughout quarantimes we’ve seen virtual concerts and online table readings – now, sing along to Storybook Theatre’s Annie and support local artists! You can bet your bottom dollar that we’ll be checking it out.

BROWSE CROSSIRON MILLS HOLIDAY HAVEN
It really doesn’t get better than this one, Calgary. It really is all hands on deck for this year’s celebration of all things merry and bright.
