Alright, this is it. This month marks an entire year since COVID really hit YYC. Now, although we’ll never forget the last 12 months of closures and uncertainty, we think that important to remember that it’s also been 360-something days of community and resilience. This March, instead of focusing on all of the craziness, we’re going to celebrate the one step closer we are to ending this thing! Over the next 31 days, why not join us in doing exactly that by getting out, having some SAFE winter fun, and supporting local shops and restaurants. Here are 25 socially distant things to do in Calgary this March!

THROW IT BACK POOLSIDE AT HOTEL ARTS

Kick it old school with DJ Kav at Calgary’s Hotel Arts. Hang out poolside and dine on a flatbread special courtesy of the Yellow Door Bistro, have a few drinks, and relax at this COVID safe event. Please remember that due to current restrictions, you must only share a table with those who live in the same household and that parties must not exceed 6.

LEARN AND PLAY WITH TELUS SPARK ONLINE

This month why not take a SCROLL, through the many virtual activities and events being held at the Telus Spark Science Centre. From live experiments, programs, and guided talks with scientists and experts, these folks have a ton of safe activities that everyone will enjoy until they’re ready and able to reopen their doors again!

ATTEND A DRAG SHOW WITH HOTELS LIVE

This month, check out the Disco Magic Drag Show by Hotels Live – a bright, fun, fabulous show and an ingenious way to GTFO without getting sick! With AHS’s approval, hotels live have been able to use the patio suites overlooking pool or courtyard areas for concerts and shows below so it’s really the closest you’ll get to the real thing!

ESCAPE THE LOCKED ZOO

WALK WITH THE PENGUINS AT THE CALGARY ZOO

Well, folks, this month will be your last chance to get up close and personal with the Calgary Zoo’s adorable penguins! Until mid-March Calgarians looking for a wholesome winter activity are encouraged to mask up and head the zoo for their annual Penguin Walk! Of course, this event depends on the weather – so before heading out, check their website for updates!

ESCAPE FROM AN ALTERNATE DIMENSION

BOOK YOUR SPRING CAMPSITES

To say that we’re ready for camping season would be an understatement and we know that we aren’t alone in feeling this way. Luckily, the wait is almost over! According to the Alberta Parks website, their booking service will finally open on March 4th. Campsites book up quickly, friends, so don’t miss your chance!

DINE IN BANFF’S 360° DOME

It’s almost here, friends! On Tuesday, March 8th, Tim Hortons Roll Up The Rim contest will kick off Canada-wide. COZY UP IN THE EAST VILLAGE HYGGE HUT

Located just off River Walk Plaza in the East Village, Calgarians looking to hang out after a day of in-city cross-country skiing are encouraged to check out the Hygge Hut! This Scandinavian-style spot is fitted with a cozy fireplace, a warm atmosphere and is perfect for winding down under a blanket with a cup of Joe or hot cocoa. Oh, and while your there, don’t forget to snap a pic in front of their winter wonderland photo wall! These guys really went all out for us this year.

TAKE PART IN BRIDGELAND’S WINTER SCAVENGER HUNT

All month long, Calgarians interested in getting active, supporting local, exploring their city, and breathing in some fresh air are encouraged to check out the first Bridgeland Arctic Adventure!
