In a news conference earlier this morning, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the acknowledgment that the economic shutdown in Canada is probably going to last for weeks. Unfortunately, the statement puts to bed most optimism about Canada’s economy recovering before the summer.

And yes, we know the two are deeply intertwined. However, in times of crisis, you want to look for which nations and groups support people, not the companies they work for. And we’re seeing that right now with the CERB and the Wage Subsidy.

So yes, an economic shutdown is a major bummer, especially when it interferes with your summer plans. But we prefer that over a potentially chaotic alternative any day of the week.
