This is what it’s like to ride a pedal-powered patio

The first time we heard about Pedal Pub, it was from our friends who had excitedly booked a tour with their pals. When the day arrived, we had to enviously watch their Instagram stories as they biked from brewery to brewery, loving life as they listened to good music and enjoyed the sun.
So, when Pedal Pub invited us to come out one day and check things out, we jumped at the opportunity. A relative newcomer to Calgary, having only started late last summer, Pedal Pub is devoted to showcasing the local craft beer scene in the most fun way possible.

Which is exactly how co-founder David Skabar got the idea. Walking down the street one day in Nashville, he was surprised to see this massive, 15-person bike make its way along. After trying to get on a tour (turns out it was booked for weeks) he said to himself, “I don’t know what this thing is, but it needs to be in Calgary.”
After exploring their options, like building their own bikes, buying a couple, or partnering with an existing company. Eventually, they settled on helping Pedal Pub, which operates in over 50 cities across North America, come to Calgary.

And it has come to the city at a perfect time. With breweries popping up left right and centre, this pedal-powered patio has become an amazing way to explore a fresh and diverse scene. David thinks there’s no better way to experience world-class breweries than a two-hour long, shared, hyper-local tour. And we’re inclined to agree.

Beer Bike Tours officially launch in Calgary this weekend
Think of it as a spin-class party that involves delicious beer. You hop on, put on whatever music you’re feeling (maybe some Shania Twain, maybe some Lil Nas X), and start the tour. By the time you’re at the first stop, you’ll be itching for an ice cold pint of the good stuff.

Once that’s over, it’s back on the bike for more fun in the sun. You’re feeling a little looser, a little sprier, and you’re truly ready to enjoy what David likes to call a ‘head-turning smile maker’. You find yourself waving at envious pedestrians because let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to be you?
Maybe the second brewery is your chance to try something different. You might go for a specialty IPA, a sour, or some weird German variety you’ve never heard of. Whatever you pick, you can rest assured that it will be a new favourite for the summer.

By the third brewery, you feel like a local celebrity. You’ve been carted around on an amazing open-air limousine, stopping every once in a while for a quick bite to eat and a frosty brew. We’d say that the party has just begun, but honestly, we would be lying to you.
And that’s because Pedal Pub IS the party. It won’t just be the highlight of your weekend, it will be the highlight of your summer.

Whether you’re looking for a work event, a bachelor party, a birthday, or just a fun time with friends, keep Pedal Pub in mind. Trust us, you won’t regret it.
