The U.S.-Canada border closure has been extended until September 21st

Our restaurants and retail spaces have almost all re-opened for business and students and teachers will begin to fill the halls in some k-12 schools around the country. After months of isolation and uncertainty, people are going back to work and finding a new normal. As we do this, naturally, provincial COVID cases will continue to fluctuate. So far, though, in comparison, we’re doing alright here and we take pride in that. For this reason, the government has decided, again, to extend the U.S.-Canada border closure until September 21st.

The border has been closed since March, and five, mutually agreed-upon extensions have been issued since. This has allowed each country to deal with the pandemic independently, and man, have we seen a major difference.

Until officially lifted, only essential workers such as health-care professionals and truck drivers will be able to cross the border on land. Air travel is still available in and out of U.S. cities, but it’s not totally advised unless there’s an emergency.

Honestly, we wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the last time they decide to extend the U.S.-Canada border closure by another 30 days, but only time will tell. Stay safe out there, folks. We’re hopeful that this will all be over soon.
