Could it be?! Could we actually see a hockey night in quarantine? According to the Edmonton Journal, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman recently approached Premier Jason Kenney about holding the 2020 playoffs in Edmonton, Alberta.
The games would be played without large crowds for safety reasons, but they would obviously be televised for us at home. Ultimately, we would still get to see the rest of the season play out, and that’s what should matter to the fandom most, right?
A formal proposal has yet to be sent, but we’ll hold on to any glimmer of hope we can get our hands on.

How they choose to proceed is heavily dependant on what Alberta’s COVID numbers look like in the coming weeks, as it still a risk to the players.
In addition to holding the playoffs in Edmonton, other cities they are apparently being considered are Washington, Calgary, Vegas, St.Paul/ Minneapolis, Raleigh, and Nashville. That being said, it’s looking pretty good for Alberta’s capital city, considering they have the lowest confirmed cases of all the above.
We’ll keep you guys updated as more information rolls in, but until then, we’ll keep our fingers crossed! We could use something big to look forward to right about now.
