The City of Calgary has officially declared another local state of emergency

Big news, folks. After several major announcements made on Tuesday by Alberta’s government, Calgary has just declared a local state of emergency in order to take the necessary steps in order to flatten the province’s curve.
In a press conference yesterday, Premier Jason Kenney reinstated several new measures, some of which came into place immediately with others taking effect on Friday. But that’s not all! Kenney also issued a provincial emergency order in hopes of granting healthcare workers some relief as the number of COVID cases continues to rise.

Now, the city has done the same – but said that they will not be enforcing any further restrictions of their own as of right now (although the order gives them the power to do so).
We know that this has been a crazy week, so it’s important to remember that local states of emergency are not declared to ensue panic. This is just a precautionary measure the city is taking to keep everyone safe and alert – just like before.
As always, we’ll be sure to update you if any other information rolls in. Until then, be safe, be kind, stay smart, and wash your hands, friends. We’ll get through this.
