Downtown really is the heart of Calgary. In the last few years, the city has put a ton of work in to make sure that it’ll keep beating for years to come. It seems every other day there’s more construction somewhere. Although it’s a pain now, we’re sure we’ll look back and say “worth it!” This time, Calgary officials are letting the public into the operating room. They’re inviting you to preview designs for the redevelopment project in Eau Claire. Viewing party anyone??

The focal point of this go-around will be reinforced waterways to limit flood potential. Understandable, because you know, 2013.

Next, improving connection for all models of transportation. Another win! They hope to add a green line that runs through the redevelopment. Also, they hope to improve and create places to live, work and play. Again, this all sounds pretty good to us.

The evolution of Eau Claire will take some time. The completion date is unclear as of right now. But bridges aren’t built in a day! However, don’t let this worry you too much. Don’t lose any sleep over it. The city has stressed the importance of minimizing any impact on those more central.

If they keep their word, residences, events and businesses shouldn’t really be affected.

If you feel like you need more details, and information sessions and open house will be held at the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre next week.
