2020 juno awards cancelled

Canada’s biggest music night of the year is not happening this time around. The 2020 Juno Awards were scheduled to take place in Saskatoon on March 15th, but they have now been cancelled. Wash your hands, people!

A statement released by a spokesperson for the Junos said the following: “Through our collaborative discussions and with input and guidance and the full support of our trusted partners, including the Province of Saskatchewan, the City of Saskatoon, Tourism Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Health Authority and Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, it is with an incredibly heavy heart that we collectively confirm the cancellation of the 49th Annual Juno Awards and Juno Week activities in Saskatoon due to concerns surrounding COVID-19.”

Obviously, it’s a heavy blow to Canada’s entertainment industry, but it is indeed for the sake of keeping people safe and healthy.

The Juno Awards have also stated that they will find an appropriate way to honour winners and make sure creators and participants that benefit from the Junos still receive support.

Things are getting crazy out there, folks. Wash your hands!
