Hey there, Jetsetters. Here’s yet another thing you can add on your ‘to-pack’ list. Sure you’ve got your wallet, passport, laptop and you brought shoes that are easy to slip on and off at security, but now you’ll have to wear a face covering. Starting June 17th, masks will be mandatory in the Calgary International airport.

This rule is the newest addition to their #FlyHealthyYYC initiative, the airport’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Several protocols are already enforced when travelling, like temperature screenings and wearing masks ON the plane, but starting this week, regardless of destination, they also ask that you wear them walking from terminal to terminal.

“Our commitment to safety remains our top priority,” said Bob Sartor, President & CEO, Calgary Airport Authority in a press release.

“As workers and travellers return to YYC we want them to trust that we remain focused on providing a safe and healthy airport to work at, to begin their journey or to welcome them home.”

The Calgary International Airport has also added physical distancing decals on floors and has devoted more time to sanitization. They’ve also installed hand cleansing stations throughout high traffic areas that are available to everyone.

So there you have it, folks. Also, remember that you should not head into the airport unless you’re travelling or working there. The fewer people the better. Surviving a pandemic is a team sport!

Stay safe out there!
