Something new and bright will emerge out of a dark memory when our city’s first music and performance-dedicated garden is built later this year. Called the Quinterra Legacy Garden, the community green space and performance amphitheater will honour the 5 victims of the 2014 Brentwood mass murder.
Lawrence Hong, Josh Hunter, Kaiti Perras, Jordan Segura, and Zackariah Rathwell will all be commemorated at the South Glenmore Park space. It’ll house a music and theatre stage. Additionally, several interactive music instruments will be placed around the garden.
The general theme of the QLG is unity and love, so various collaborative activities will be offered. In particular, garden visitors may look forward to drum circles, yoga sessions, spoken word performances and more.
The idea is to support the arts and creativity. This means an emphasis on encouraging meditation, communication, and healing for those struggling with mental illness.
