Gretzky & Iginla ask that you “help prevent the spread” in new Alberta PSA

Via Calgary Flames / Twitter

We’ve kept our eyes on everything and anything COVID related. We’ve heard from world leaders, doctors, and organizations, and they all say the same thing. Despite constant warnings and reminders, some of you still aren’t taking this seriously. Now, in an effort to either to knock some sense into – or just entertain some of you, your childhood heroes, favourite musicians, and a few sports all-stars have put together the most wholesome Alberta PSA we’ve ever seen.

In addition to the Premier, Calgary Mayor, Naheed Nenshi, Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson and a few well-known reporters, they’ve also managed to enlist the likes of Edmonton Oilers Leon Draisaitl, former Calgary Flame Jarome Iginla, chief medical officer of health, and absolute queen, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Brett Kissel and Wayne freaking Gretzky. The man, the myth, the legend.

The video was uploaded to YouTube and advises that everyone do the following:

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Self-isolate if you’re feeling sick
  • Pay attention to the latest requirements
  • Support your friends, family and neighbours
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Reduce stress and take care of yourself

We know, a lot of this Alberta PSA mirrors what we’ve already been told but like we said some people just aren’t listening. Here’s to hoping that #99 can make a difference. If he can’t, we’re not sure who else will be able to.
