cowboys dancehall closes

Don’t drink every time another Calgary spot closes in the wake of the COVID-apocolypse. Despite it being for the best, it brings us no joy to be the ones to break the news. Following suit, Penny Lane Entertainment, the group behind Cowboys, Melrose and Zen 8, has temporarily suspended all operations. This will include the Cowboys Music Festival until further notice.

“We believe that limiting all social gatherings is the responsible and prudent decision to maintain the health and safety of all Calgarians and visitors in our great city,” their Instagram announcement reads.

We certainly can’t say we’re surprised or that we disagree. The folks behind the Penny Lane Entertainment Group have said they will continue to monitor the situation, ending the post with a reminder to stay healthy and safe.

“We will come out of this stronger, and we look forward to inviting you back to our legendary venues… when it’s safe to do so.”

We never thought we’d say this, but we can’t wait until this is all over and we can have our toes stepped on by 18-year-olds learning to swing dance again.
